The only preface I have for this is that I took this not as songs leading up to the end of the world as though you'd hear this as the world drew to a close but as that plus being the ones "left behind" as the prophecies would have you believe. As the good christians (all 3 of them) are taken up to heaven, the rest of us sinners would be left behind to (insert something christian here. i'm southern, but not THAT southern). So 1/2 is forbidding, then the destruction, then the aftermath.
Enjoy, sinners!

I relate so incredibly well to where you went on this mix. While I appreciate your own history with this music, I am struck by the meaning of these songs to my own history. The time frame in which so many of these songs emerged were definitely also during the "darkest" period of my life. Dead Can Dance, The Sisters of Mercy, Front 242, Martin Gore's solo stuff... all have personal meaning for me, with my own stories attached to them. I love that and the contrast of your stark-white artwork with a dead fly. Perfect.
